Over
time the firm has developed a department
that advises on Nigerian Labor law and other
legislation relevant to employment. From
the drafting of contracts of employment
for both local and expatriate staff to assisting
human resources managers in the preparation
of company terms and conditions of service
in their various companies, the department
ensures that clients remain compliant with
the laid down regulations in the particular
sector in which that company operates.
This
department also advises in situations where
the company goes through re-structuring,
which usually involves downsizing through
terminations, redundancies and retirements.
Where cases of dismissal of employees do
arise, counsel ensure that the company is
fully advised on the subsequent events that
may arise there from.
The
department has also been involved in industrial
relations having been involved on several
occasions in trade union negotiations and
settlement of trade disputes.
